Century Sound

Through the continuing effort of fans, music historians, and private collectors, every year we know more about our musical past. Recorded as history, it continues to change as our understanding of context grows. This is the nature of things passed.

"Century Sound" applies this concept of a constantly-shifting understanding of music to a single listening experience. The installation features eight layers of an original ambient composition separated throughout eight monitors around a 360 degree sound space.

As each layer repeats on its own timeline, the overall piece will continue to change each time it is heard, like a history of familiar sounds constantly reconfiguring themselves as we continue to hear them.
